"Unlearning the myths that blind us"

"Unlearning the myths that blind us" in this article the author discusses the unfair stereotypes and racism that is hidden in children literature and childrens cartoons. These ideas are embedded into childrens heads at a young age and unless you really analyze the stories you are watching. You will realize that women are stereotyped as less than a man or as sex symbols. Minorities are usually portrayed as slaves and never play the lead roles. Characters in the cartoons are given superficial roles which young children can immitate. The author of this article gave the students in her class the assignment of writing paper about what they observe in the cartoons and literature that they watch.
I feel that this article is very truthful I think that you do not realize the truth behind the cartoons that children watch can brain wash them. Children need to be monitored by their guardians to approve what kind of shows they watch in this day and age.
One of the students who participated in the activity after completing it, Christensen created stated he found his nephews absorbed in "Looney Tunes" I turned that TV off and took them down to the park to play. they arent going to watch that mess when im around. I feel that this is what all parents should do to prevent the cycle from continuing.
